Two-tone 4wd goodness, made here in Indiana. Shame they were such a bust.

I like it. I recently go in an argument about he virtues of the Baja. Some was insistent that it’s a silly ugly car, and I told him that his om is silly, and ugly.

And they came in yellow.

The only color worth buying it in.

Contrast is good, hence why I like the FJ Cruiser and not much else from modern Toyota (and why I hate color-matched Wrangler roofs).
That particular car, though, looks like a hot mess. What the hell is it?

I would argue that, regardless of individual aesthetic preference, everyone can agree that Subaru did not achieve its success by making the prettiest cars on the road.

I need to go looking around. That’s a peach.

From what I’ve seen it’s pretty much the only color they came in.

Could even get them with a manual and a turbo!

Have you seen what they go for used? They hold their values like old Tacoma's or tundras

One downside of so few being sold. I haven’t looked, but guessing they’ll be out of my price range.

Too bad Baja Yellow was never available on the turbo.

Two solutions to this:
1. Get a yellow wrap.
2. Swap a turbo engine in.

I had a friend with one of those, he and his wife were skiers. They never took it to the mountain because there was really nowhere to put skis. So they took his Impreza because they could put the skis in the back with the split-fold seat
. They’d take the Impreza on longer trips because they could put the dogs in the back, and more stuff would be inside out of the weather.
Moving anything larger than a microwave? Used the Impreza with the seats folded down. Bikes didn’t really fit in the back, either. Again, the Impreza had a roof rack and/or could fit a bike in the back with the seat down. You could put a rack on the Baja, but basically it had exactly zero advantages over a smaller hatchback.

I can see that being a problem. Fortunately for me I don’t use my Jeep to carry large gear into the wilderness: my Jeep is the gear I want while I’m there. Way too lazy to go hiking/biking/whatever.

My lottery-winning garage will include an aftermarket STI’d-up one of these.

Now, the new Jeep Gladiator on the other hand... THAT I could get into.

Would make a great way to tow my Wrangler to the trails.
